Integration of API Manager Draft with version control system

The problem we have is that when the API Developer is applying changes in the API or Product definition in API Manager Draft there is no proper version control so we can't track what has changed in the API and who performed the change. Preferably we would like to also send updated item to external system.

Ideal solution for us would be to integrate API Manager with Bitbucket - so new version is pushed to Bitbucket automatically based on some hook e.g. when product in Draft is saved, published to catalog or so... So we can enforce that each change is traceable but developer doesn't have any manual overhead because of it. Any kind of side-call HTTP request in such situation would probably also work.

I was investigating API Discovery feature in 10.0.8.x but looks like unfortunately it only works the other way around Bitbucket change -> update API Manager while we actually need API Manager change -> update Bitbucket.
