Currently we have quite a few apis where input data is read in the form of api path parameters and query string parameters.
In the API design tab the only option we see when creating parameters is to select the data type (string, integer) and nothing else.
But what is really needed in our requirement is to have the out of the box capability to set the restricts on the content like how we will have for properties open api schema definition
- to have minLength and maxLength of parameter value
- to have pattern to restrict what characters are allowed in case of string data type
- to have enum support to allow only predefined values
Another observation is that for query parameter values even the data type is not enforced. For example, if set the data type of a query param to Integer it still accepts a string. The only time it throws an error is when the query param itself is missing
