Comprehensive Documentation on API Deployment Best Practices for Large-Scale Implementations

Issue Summary:
The governance scan failed due to excessive memory and disk usage, attributed to the high API count within catalogs. IBM's DEV team provided a temporary resolution by advising the disabling of API governance and discovery until the fix is released in version 10.0.8.3. However, frequent synchronization and governance issues suggest that the large API count may be a contributing factor.

Business Impact:
Our production setup includes over 3,000 APIs and 450+ products across eight catalogs within a single organization. With API discovery and governance enabled, it is critical to streamline the setup and potentially redistribute APIs and products across catalogs or organizations. However, the APIC Knowledge Center lacks guidance on best practices for API deployment at this scale.

Request:
We request detailed documentation specifying:

  • The ideal number of APIs/products deployable within a single catalog.
  • Limits on API definitions and collections within a gateway cluster.
  • Maximum API definitions/products/catalogs an organization can accommodate
