Implementation of First-Login Password Change & Periodic for Developer Portal

Dear Team,

To improve the security of the Developer Portal login, we propose implementing the following password policies:

First Login Password Reset: Require users to change their password upon their initial login.

Periodic Password Rotation: Enforce mandatory password changes every 2 to 3 months to maintain ongoing security compliance.

Please review and confirm the feasibility and expected timeline for implementing these measures.

Best regards,

Password management is a capability of the identity provider. We will not implement this feature request on the API Connect Local User Registry; if you need this capability on API Connect 10.x, then we recommend using federated identity w/ your organization's standard identity provider. That is a much more robust approach to security than using LUR.

For future releases of APIC after the end of 2025, our new developer portal will include a capability where you can invite a user via email, and they will be required to set up a password on their first login. Even in this situation, however, we recommend using federated identity rather than our built-in identity provider.
