Scheduled API Governance Scans & Email Distribution

Good day,

I’d like to request a new feature in IBM API Connect: the ability to schedule API governance scans and automatically email the resulting reports to selected recipients.

Rationale

API Manager already has outbound email configured (used for user invitations, subscription notifications, etc.), so the platform is well-positioned to support scheduled delivery of governance reports.

Proposal

• Let space admins (or a suitable role) choose the Governance ruleset to apply.

• Allow users to schedule scans (daily/weekly/monthly, specific time & time zone).

• Generate the governance report for the selected APIs or the entire space.

• Email the report to:

  • All users in the space, and/or

  • Additional recipients (e.g., a mailing list or specific email addresses) who may not have space access.

• Support common formats (PDF/CSV) and include a link back to the report in the UI.

Benefits

• Proactive visibility into compliance issues.

• Makes it easier to expose API quality and governance standard, thus enforcing accountability.

• Less manual effort to run and share reports.

• Faster remediation and better governance hygiene.

Suggested Acceptance Criteria

• Users can create, edit, pause, and delete schedules per space.

• Users can select the Governance ruleset per schedule.

• Emails are sent at the configured time with the report attached and/or linked.

• Admins can configure default email templates and allowed frequencies.

• Clear error handling and retry behavior for failed deliveries.
