There is a requirement from Open Banking/PSD2 regulation to support a dynamic registration mechanism for APIs exposed by the bank. API Connect doesn't currently support OAuth2 based Dynamic Client Registration (RFC7591) in order to achieve real time registration and API invocation.
To comply with RFC7591 for dynamic registration we woud like a headless API to be available out-of-the-box and and lack of support for this will introduce operational overhead as the ecosystem grows. The Open Banking target architecture requires banks to offer Dynamic Registration of TPPs using an API as per http://openid.net/specs/openid-connect-registration-1_0.html and https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7591. As of now, APIC cannot support this.
We are planning to address dynamic registration as part of the existing platform APIs. This will be out of the box capability although it won't deliver RFC 7591. Today, programmatic registration is provided out of the box using APIs to create accounts but this process does not conform to the spec as it requires the third-party consumer to click an activation link in the email during the process, which takes away the 100% ‘dynamic' flow Open Banking are specifying for future.
