At this point API Connect is not looking at adding DataPower's Native Load Balancer Groups (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/datapower-gateway/10.5.x?topic=administration-load-balancer-groups) for backend endpoints into an out of box configuration. Backend systems should be routed via a network load balancer, DNS group, or other mechanism for scalability.
