Improve API Designer development flow to support DataPower based API:s

Currently the local API Designer does not support a proper development flow for API:s that require DataPower based policies in the assembly.

It is not possible to develop, publish/deploy and test in rapid cycle. By integrating to local API Connect installation its possible to publish, but testing is lacking. Also no debug information whatsoever is available, if testing from API Designer.

Also (DataPower) user-defined policies are not supported at all.

Local API designer should work exactly like the API Manager UI works for development. Problem with API Manager UI is that it does not integrate to version control. API Designer works with version control but is unable to perform all tasks needed. This leads to the situation where 2 different tools need to be used for development.

    Hi Tero,

We have delivered a local test environment ( light weight version of API Manager) to enable developers to rapidly create and test APIs from their laptops. You can read more about it here - https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/api-connect/10.0.x?topic=api-testing-local-test-environment

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you,

We have plans to update the API Connect designer to support DataPower Docker.
