Enable/Disable activity-log feature at runtime using cli command or REST API

Support to enable/disable the ‘Activity Log’- We are looking for features to enable and disable activity log using apic cli commands. Currently this feature can be done only via the enable and disable feature in API Designer while building the API.

Can this be done via cli or REST API?

    1. Please provide a few descriptions of how this might be use and which access control roles might have ability to make this change.

This feature would be used from APIM console, when the developer of the API misses to disable the ‘Activity Log’ from the API Designer for any of the APIs and has published it already in any Catalog. The user who would be able to do this change in APIM console, should have more restrictive access, like that of an ‘APIM Administrator’ role.

    1. Would it only allow for more restrictive logging (aka turning full payload to headers only) as then it would be assumed the developer has accounted for any sensitive information with a redaction policy?

No, the intention behind adding this feature is to disable the ‘Activity Log’ option (checkbox) and to set the ‘Success Content’ and ‘Error Content’ options to ‘none’ in case the developer misses to do so before publishing the API in a Catalog.

    1. Where in API Manager would a user then be able to see that the assumed configuration as defined in the yaml used for the deployment has been altered so that a deterministic state of the environment could be reviewed.

For this to be implemented in APIM console, there can be an option provided for each of the API in the APIM, due to the fact that as of now there is no option neither at APIM nor in API Designer to integrate the APIC IDE with any source control tool/repo directly.
