Killing long running transaction instead of watchdog reloads

We have problems with appliance reloads when executing complex regular expressions in APIs. It would be an outage when both appliances of a cluster were affected at the same time. (See TS014313105/TS013649529)

IBM Support explains it as follows:

"DataPower watchdog is a mechanism to resolve issues caused by too long running transactions.

If any transaction runs for more than 120 seconds and an exclusive event happens, DataPower watchdog reloads.

Executing a CLI command is an example that triggers an exclusive event."

We would like to have another watchdog error handling. Something like only killing the long running transaction instead of reloading the whole appliance.

Furthermore there should be a way in API Connect policies to configure the executing time period before the transaction is killed/rejected.

Support told us that changing this behaviour would be a major change and requires an RFE.
