Enable Auto-Recovery for Virtual DataPower Devices even when only a Single Storage Path Is Available

We had experienced a major availability incident due to Virtual DataPower devices entering read-only mode after a partial storage failure. Despite multipath being configured, devices could not recover automatically and required manual reboot. This enhancement will enable auto-recovery when at least one storage path remains available, reducing downtime, improving resilience, and eliminating manual intervention for critical banking services.

Implement an auto-recovery mechanism in DataPower that:

  • Detects when storage paths are degraded but at least one path remains available.
  • Automatically remounts storage and transitions out of read-only mode without requiring a reboot.

Business value:

  • Reduces downtime and operational risk during partial storage failures.
  • Improves resilience and high availability for critical banking services.
  • Eliminates manual intervention, reducing MTTR and operational costs.
