This is an IBM Automation portal for Integration products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The objective is to enable a traditional MQ Request/Reply pattern when flowing messages through both MQ queues and Kafka topics.
app -----puts-message-with-ReplyQ-header----> MQ.QUEUE.REQUEST
MQ.QUEUE.REQUEST -----MQ-Source-Connector---> KAFKA.TOPIC.REQUEST
KAFKA.TOPIC.REQUEST -------consumed-by------> event processor app
event processor app ---produces-result-to---> KAFKA.TOPIC.RESPONSE
KAFKA.TOPIC.RESPONSE ---MQ-Sink-Connector---> MQ.QUEUE.RESPONSE
MQ.QUEUE.RESPONSE ----reply-retrieved-by----> app
The MQ Source Connector already has a mechanism for propagating MQMD properties such as ReplyQ to the Kafka message, so that it is available to the consuming event processor app in the Kafka message header.
There isn't currently a way for the MQ Sink Connector to dynamically put messages retrieved from Kafka to different MQ queues. Currently, the Sink Connector can only be configured with a single destination queue (mq.queue), and creates a JMSProducer to put all messages to that queue.
The new feature required to enable the request/reply pattern outlined above is for the MQ Sink Connector to support putting messages to dynamic reply queues.
