ILMT REST API be able to edit a supress/exclude comment of an instance

Hello,

We want to modify the comment of a line already excluded or deleted with the method :

PUT https://hostname:port/api/sam/v2/software_instances

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=v2-classifying-software#put_software_instances__suppress

Actually, it does not make any modifications. The call return "unmodified_instances=1".

The workaround is :

  1. Call the API to unsuppress/unexclude the desired component

  2. Call it again with the is_suppressed/es_excluded and exclusion_or_suppress_comment parameter

Could you modify this method to allow editing a suppress/exclude comment of an instance that is already suppressed/excluded ?

To avoid causing a problem, the solution could be to add a parameter "allow_update" for exemple.

    Not considered to implement:

The proposed procedure can be used to achive desired goal:

    • Call the API to unsuppress/unexclude the desired component

    • Call it again with the is_suppressed/es_excluded and exclusion_or_suppress_comment parameter
