REST API support for deleting VM Managers

ILMT currently provides a REST API for adding and updating VM Managers, but there is no equivalent API endpoint for deleting them. This gap creates a significant operational problem for organisations managing large, dynamic virtualised estates — particularly those using Microsoft Hyper-V at scale. In our customer's environment, approximately 150 Hyper-V hosts are configured as VM Managers in ILMT. Their platforms team has built an impressive automation solution using the existing REST API to track, add, and update VM Manager entries dynamically. However, because deletion cannot be performed via the API, decommissioned or reconfigured hosts accumulate as stale entries. This contributes to incorrect health data and duplicate UUID errors in the VM Manager Tool logs — directly impacting the accuracy of sub-capacity licence data. The proposed enhancement is straightforward: introduce a DELETE endpoint to the ILMT VM Manager REST API (e.g. DELETE /api/sam/vm_managers/{id}), consistent with the existing GET and POST/PUT operations. This would allow customers and partners to complete full lifecycle management of VM Managers programmatically, without requiring manual UI intervention or distributed VM Manager Tool configuration changes. Who benefits: - Customers with large, dynamic Hyper-V estates where VM Managers change frequently - Customers using automation platforms (e.g. Ansible, custom scripting) to manage ILMT configuration - IBM CVA partners managing hosted ILMT environments on behalf of multiple customers - Any customer seeking to maintain clean, accurate VM Manager health data for audit-defensible sub-capacity reporting
