System topic statistics for network usage

System topics can be used in IBM MQ for monitoring resource usage (CPU and disk) and for consuming summary statistics (MQI, queue, application, and Native HA). This enhancement request is to extend the system topics to include network usage statistics to assist with capacity monitoring/planning and network cost recovery processes. Network utilisation can be monitored by third-party tools, but it is not always easy/possible to obtain sufficient granularity within a network. It would be helpful if queue managers could provide summary information for this purpose.

Channel network usage

The existing MQI statistics can be used to approximate message volume, but they don't account for network compression, metadata in network flows, or distinguish between messages put by local applications versus clients. They also don't account for network flows that do not send or receive messages.

Native HA network usage

The existing Native HA statistics can similarly be used to approximate replication traffic, but they also don't account for metadata in network flows, or network flows that do not include log bytes.

Requested metrics

Total inbound bytes received by the queue manager for channel communication

Total outbound bytes sent by the queue manager for channel communication

Total inbound bytes received by the queue manager for Native HA replication

Total outbound bytes sent by the queue manager for Native HA replication

For Native HA, it would be helpful to provide separate metrics for Native HA versus CRR to help differentiate between in-region and cross-region network traffic.
