There is a surpirising side effect causesd by the current design of timing for "automated linear logfile cleanup".
The current implementation for the timer for the "next scheduled run" starts with a queue manager restart.
Past an incident last year the customer individually implemented own scripts to check log file status on queue manager start and manually triggers rcdmqimg when needed. See " usecase" below.
This contrasts " automated linear logfile cleanup" idea - There is still some manual scripting required today to capture all aspects of cleanup.

The timing was improved in MQ 9.3 which is now available. It should resolve this Idea.
Sometime it makes sense, to have more control over the time schedule, when a log rotate does appear:
- Short before ore after business time on a regulary base
- during business time only, when space on disk is becoming poor.
We are considering doing some work in this area in future, and will take this RFE into account when doing the designs.
