Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive a notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

If you encounter any issues accessing the Ideas portal, please send email describing the issue to for resolution. For more information about IBM's Ideas program visit

IBM MQ LTS Backward Compatibility PTFs

When applying MQ LTS maintenance or upgrade, we need to be able to go back to the previous level or version by applying a PTF to be backward compatible.

Currently, if we have an issue, we would need to Cold Start the MQ Manager which can be problematic in a Banking Production environment.

Idea Priority Urgent
Use Case
When upgrading to MQ v9.2 LTS from MQ v9.1 CD, we had a major issue that impacted our Production Banking MQ regions, due to an issue introduced with MQ Clusters. If the decision to fallback was made, we would have had to Cold Start the MQ regions that can be problematic and time consuming with having to reset all Sender/Receiver channels for all 3rd parties and for all internal distributed MQ Managers.

Agreed: we need this same feature on both LTS and CD releases. As we are using CD, we plan to upgrade our servers 4 times every year. Not having a rollback procedure in case anything goes wrong is unacceptable.

This request applies to both LTS and CD releases

This is a perfectly reasonable request, and now that we don't actually have backwards compatibility PTFs from 9.2.0 its relatively simple to do. However, as with everything else, its not free. I will leave this open for the time being and see how many votes it gets, then we will consider where this item fits in our list of priorities.
