Generating mq event messages for CSQX544E / CSQX548E

In a more and more hybrid mq qmgr connection world the likelihood of filling remote DLQ's is rising.

In z/OS environments the qmgr's are noticing this by generating the following messages in the joblogs :
CSQX544E (Messages for channel channel-name sent to remote dead-letter queue) - https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.3?topic=zos-distributed-queuing-messages-csqx#csq_x__csqx544e
CSQX548E (Messages sent to local dead-letter queue, channel channel-name reason=mqrc (mqrc-text))- https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.3?topic=zos-distributed-queuing-messages-csqx#csq_x__csqx548e

We would like to get event messages produced for those "incidents".
Our idea is to react to these events by customizing our monitoring tools with action respectively inform the producer of the messages or maybe disabling the put of the remote queue to prevent further flooding.

This is not something we would plan to add to MQ, especially as there is the example of using Report options.

    Hi Matt,

we have to evaluate this - report messages (MQRO_EXCEPTION) weren't yet on our mind.

    We will answer soon.

    Regards from Nuremberg, Norbert

    Hi Norbert,

Thanks for raising this idea. Is there any reason why you couldn't use exception reports: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ibm-mq/9.3?topic=descriptor-report-mqlong-mqmd
It seems close to what you are asking for, with the benefit of being cross platform.

    Regards, Matt.
