"-password" parameter for runmqsc -u

runmqsc can be used with the "-u" switch to specify an account when connecting to the Queue Manager, particularly if you have CHCKLOCL(REQUIRED) or CHCKLOCL(REQDADM) in the AUTHINFO.

In this case, the password is requested via a prompt, which is problematic for scripted installations.

It is not possible to use a redirect ("<password"), as there is a collision with the old operating mode ("< file.mqsc>).

The current recommended solution is to place the password in the first line of the mqsc file, which potentially exposes this password.

IBM should provide a -password option for runmqsc, so that the account password can be transmitted in a less exposed way than in an mqsc file.

    Having a command line parameter is not appropriate - it's a potential security issue.

    The recommended way to do this is to use pipes. Get the password in whatever way you want, and then pipe it along with the MQSC script into stdin. You do not need to modify the MQSC script.

    For example:

    pw=`extract_password_from_vault`
    (echo $pw;cat commands.mqsc) | runmqsc
