Ask IBM to provide MQ stub for 64-bit COBOL z/OS programs

Currently, IBM MQ provides 31-bit stubs for multiple languages on z/OS, while a 64-bit stub is available only for C.

We respectfully ask that IBM also provide a 64-bit stub for COBOL.

Such support would greatly simplify the migration of existing 31-bit COBOL applications to 64-bit environments. At present, IBM requires customers to adopt Java 11 SE SDK, which is offered only in a 64-bit version. As a result, organizations like ours face significant challenges when attempting to build COBOL MQ 64-bit programs under z/OS , since the required MQ stub is not available.

Providing a 64-bit COBOL stub would:

Enable smoother modernization of COBOL applications.

Ensure consistency across programming languages supported by IBM MQ.

Remove technical barriers that currently hinder compliance with IBM’s own platform requirements.

We kindly ask that this request be reviewed and considered for inclusion in a future release of IBM MQ for z/OS.
