Necessary MQ Security Enhancements - Especially on z/OS

Lack of access visibility, especially while RESLEVEL is set permissively

  • For example, if the CICS ID establishes a connection to MQ, MQ would not verify subsequent IDs from a user ID leveraging that CICS region to submit something to MQ from CICS; it doesn't validate the alternate IDs

  • MQ essentially assumes all connections coming through that CICS region are valid and do not validate the individual IDs' access in this example

  • At a minimum, we should be able to see what attempts are being made by every ID in scenarios like this

    • The ability to have a trace of all access attempts, even when RESLEVEL is set to a permissive mode, would provide critical visibility of what is taking place both for risk monitoring as well as clean up efforts when there is a desire to lock down RESLEVEL

  • This would help us catch things like access attempts by blank alternate IDs, IDs in use that are no longer defined to the security product, etc.

Removed references to RVERIFY and tokenization per ML@Hursley as they are covered in other Ideas.

I do not understand why the formatting is being ignored, even after attempting to re-do it using the sites inbuilt formatting tool.  If I try to edit the Idea, the formatting looks fine; it only looks off after I save the edits.  Any help would be appreciated.
