Summary:
Currently, the webMethods JDBC Adapter supports Kerberos authentication only in Windows environments. However, there is no support for Kerberos authentication with Active Directory (AD) service accounts in Linux environments. This limitation was confirmed by R&D under SI-575503, where it was explicitly stated that Kerberos authentication is not supported on Linux. This creates a significant gap for organizations running their webMethods integrations on Linux systems, especially when secure and enterprise-standard authentication mechanisms like Kerberos are required.
Request:
We request the product team to enhance the webMethods JDBC Adapter to support Kerberos authentication in Linux environments. This feature should include compatibility with standard database drivers (e.g., Oracle, MSSQL) and provide seamless integration with AD service accounts.
Business Impact:
Proposed Outcome:
Implementing Kerberos authentication support for Linux environments will enhance the flexibility, security, and usability of the webMethods JDBC Adapter, ensuring it meets the needs of modern enterprise environments.
Reference:
This request is based on R&D’s response under SI-575503, which confirmed the lack of Kerberos support for Linux environments.
