Enable full support for the “Alternate name” field in Flat File schemas on webMethods.io

Currently, the Alternate name feature in Flat File schema definitions is not supported in webMethods.io cloud environments, even though it exists in on-premise versions. This enhancement would allow developers to map fixed-length or delimited file fields to meaningful JSON keys without additional transformation logic.

Why is it useful?

  • Reduces complexity by eliminating extra mapping steps.
  • Improves maintainability and readability of integrations.

Who benefits?

  • Integration developers and enterprises using webMethods.io for B2B or file-based integrations.

How should it work?

  • When useAlternateNameForSegments=true is enabled at the package level, the runtime should automatically replace field names with their alternate names in the generated JSON output.
