Resumable File upload over HTTP

Business Context: Bank is always working to enhance their Retail Banking consumer experience via various small/big initiatives. Currently, when consumers come to  Bank’s website and want to buy a product (loan products etc.), they need to upload some documents like KYC etc. (for example) to complete the journey or sometimes it could even be a servicing request. Consumers could be logging into Bank’s application from remote locations (Tier2,3 cities etc.) with patchy network so there is a high chance network might blip or have higher latency.

Pain-point: Currently, if a connection breaks during the upload process, consumer has to start upload process all over again. Traditional file upload methods fail most times due to network latency; This leads to customer churn and drop in CSAT which are critical aspects for any Bank’s business.

Solution Need: Bank is looking for a resumable file upload capability (on HTTP) embedded in their website experience (no plugin/no thick client), wherein even if a connection drops due to whatever reason, consumer is able to resume file upload from same place where connection dropped and not be forced to start all over again. Note: Bank can’t enforce any plugin or thick client to retail banking consumers for this use-case.

Competitor under-evaluation by Bank:
Bank is evaluating TUS https://tus.io/demo for this scenario and TUS meets their requirement as shown in the demo URL. (Give it a try to understand the scenario better).  Bank has requested IBM for a solution.

IBM Solutions internally evaluated thus far: Evaluated IBM Aspera & WebMethod MFT ; Both have challenges in meeting the requirements.
