ESQL SELECT Function - Add Distinct

It would be really useful to support SELECT DISTINCT with the SELECT function.  This happens often enough for us and requires a fair bit of ESQL code to manually implement.

Thank you for taking the time to raise this enhancement request, which we agree would provide a small usability improvement when authoring ESQL. Whilst it is possible to use a PASSTHRU statement to pass SQL syntax directly to the database for interpretation (as opposed to ACE preparing the statements in advance, which involves translating them into subtley different variants based on specific database provider implementations), we acknowledge that including DISTINCT within the ESQL SELECT statement vocabulary would be a nice benefit. Compared to other situations (like for example APPC-I-1040) we see DISTINCT as an example of where this kind of post-processing could be done either in the database or back in ACE after results have been retrieved. Regardless of choice of method of implementation, the status of the idea is updated to Future Consideration.
