FileRead Node to List the number of files

Currently the only node that is capable of listing the files from a source FTP server is the 'File Exists' Node. However the node by itself is time driven and dynamically passing a policy + host file to list different host directories is not possible.

We would like the FileRead Node to have the "List Mode" operation which would just list the number of files waiting on the source server and also send the file names as response. 

This way we can dynamically list files from different FTP/SFTP host server and plan for concurrent file retrieval. 

Example  The File read with list mode will list files : test1.txt , text2.txt , test3.txt which can later be passed to another fileread node that can pick up files in parallel.

    Hi Veeraraghavan,
    Thank you for taking the time to raise this request to IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) team. We recognize the value this capability brings in enabling more flexible and dynamic file‑handling patterns, particularly when working with FTP/SFTP servers where file availability needs to be queried on demand and host details may vary at runtime.

    This RFE has been accepted for future consideration. The request aligns with a need for a mid‑flow, trigger‑driven capability to list available files (and their names/count) without continuously polling, and with support for dynamic configuration via runtime overrides. We will evaluate approaches that preserve the existing separation of concerns between detecting file availability and reading file content, which may involve enhancing existing file nodes or introducing a dedicated mid‑flow file‑listing capability.

    This is a c andidate for a future release; no committed timeline at this time. We’ll keep you informed as design and planning progress.
