We need the possibility, parameter or ENV variable which would allow to set a defined value for EG restarts.

Idea / RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this idea has been in the status of Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration. We note that this request was originally raised against a very old version of the product, WMBv7. Unfortunately on this occasion we will not be taking this suggestion any further as there has not been widespread support (two votes in over six and a half years), and given that the problem reported only manifests itself in extreme abend situations where the product is already not working correctly, this is no longer considered a viable business requirement for us to pursue.

Thank you for raising this RFE. Although the situation you describe should be very rare, we acknowledge that the RFE as described would be helpful in these circumstances to avoid continual Execution Group restarts in situations where an abend keeps happening. We will give this use case further consideration when we return to the WorkLoad Management area of the product in a future release. Status of this RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.

My 2 bits: IBM products on ZOS Systems are often compared to competetive products on platforms like linux. ZOS costs are charged on base of CPU and IOs. Whenever there is an infinite loop of an execution group there are costs that noone wants to pay. This behaviour is a reputation killer for ZOS applications.
