Enable the IIB mqsideploy Command to be Executed Directly in OMVS

The IBM Integration Bus v9 on z/OS allows the mqsideploy command to be executed via a z/OS batch job (BIPDPLY) or through a GUI interface such as the IIB Toolkit. We would like to be able to issue mqsideploy as a line command directly under OMVS. PMR 70576,L6Q,000 was opened to diagnose problems we were encountering when trying to execute the command in this manner. IBM L2/L3 assisted and I was able to get this procedure to work:

1. Logon to TSO with a region size of 2gb.
2. Go into OMVS.
3. Execute a shell script that is a copy of the broker bipprof file and that also includes a STEPLIB environment variable that will make the MQ and DB2 libraries available in the USS environment (e.g. . ./mybrkprofile.sh).
4. Run the mqsideploy command

However, IBM said this was not a supported method and they could not assist in the future if there was a problem when using the procedure. They suggested opening an RFE to request it as an enhancement. Although our requirement is specifically to support executing the mqsideploy command in this fashion, we would like the ability to issue other mqsi commands as well.

Idea / RFE review. Thank you for taking the time to raise this enhancement request, and apologies for the length of time this idea has been in the status of Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration. We acknowledge that not all commands are available on zOS in Unix System Services (details, including those of mqsideploy are documented here: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/integration-bus/10.0?topic=administration-commands#an07060_bl). Whilst this request has only received moderate community support, we intend to keep this idea on our radar for the next zOS release which adds new functional capabilities as we would like to improve all aspects of the product's usability across our platform estate. Status maintained as Future Consideration.

Thank you for raising this RFE and for the detailed and specific description of the use case. We have re-assessed the IIB administration processes several times through our history in order to enable wider configuration access to the product. Making IIB administration more flexible and user friendly for people in your LOB teams sounds like a good idea, so thanks for this suggestion for how we might achieve these aims on z/OS specifically. Status of the RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
