In Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare enable the HL7 reserved characters can be escaped by setting a variable

Today reserved characters in a message HL7 are manually replaced with escape characters, using the ESQL REPLACE function, which requires a lot of extra code and certification.
We need this to be done by setting a variable as is done in IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management where is set the HL7StandardEscape variable (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSWSR9_11.3.0/com.ibm.mdshs.broker.doc/topics/r_broker_HL7stdEscapeVar.html)

    RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this RFE has been held in Uncommitted Candidate status. Unfortunately business prioritization has not yet led us to implement this requirement, but we still see value in the idea. In fact the idea is a duplicate of APPC-I-264 which has already gathered 38 votes as opposed to the single vote here:

    Thank you for raising this RFE, which we agree would make an excellent enhancement to the product. Although DFDL has capability to express escape characters, and also has the ability to accept dynamic HL7 delimiters, you correctly point out that it currently has no means of dynamically substituting values as part of the parsing / writing process. Status of the RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
