System: IBM Integration Bus
Actor: Developer or System Administrator
Description: Customers have used IIB to create web services for multiple scenarios, like "web service" enable MQ back ends among other use cases. And now they want to go one step further adding an API Management layer to those web services via API Connect, but still expose them as SOAP Services without being forced to create a RESTful interface.
IIB is currently capable to push REST Services to API Connect from the Toolkit for a single service or from the Admin Web UI for a bulk push, but there is no equivalent functionality to do the same for Integration Services.
The IIB functionality should be extended to allow pushing Integration Services to API Connect to leverage all those assets if the business needs to expose them as SOAP Services.

Idea Review. As part of our policy for regularly reassessing aged ideas we have recently discussed this enhancement request again. Unfortunately on this occasion it has been decided that we won't be taking this idea further forward as a business priority. This suggestion has been open for a while without signs of popularity, and whilst expanding further the relationship between App Connect and API Connect when developing integration artifacts remains important for our future strategic directions, unfortunately WSDL based integration services are reducing in popularity as most users are moving to more efficient REST API interfaces instead.
RFE Review. Thank you for taking the time to raise this RFE and apologies for the length of time it has been in Submitted status. We think this sounds like a good suggestion for the future direction of the product although we note that since initially raised there tends to be a lot more community interest in REST API enhancements than web services. We also note that despite being open for several years this enhancement request has only gathered a handful of votes. We will continue to monitor for signs of popularity. Status of the RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
