File Read Node Optimized for sequential reads

Would like to see the file read node improved so that sequential reads are optimized. Current the file read node restarts each time the data is read making this impractical and poorly performing for sequential reads of significantly sized files (or many files). Would like to see the file read node, have a read-ahead capability which caches for sequential reads and also improves performance

    Idea / RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this idea has been in the status of Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration. Although we have not yet managed to prioritise this feature, and despite the solitary vote it has received (which we are quite surprised about), we absolutely still see value in this request. The Records and Elements options provided with the File nodes has evolved since this suggestion was initially raised (whereby we now have ability to identify records in a variety of ways based on fixed length, delimited and streamed parsed record sequences), but it is also true that we have not implemented a read-ahead capability within the FileRead node yet. We will continue to monitor this idea for popularity. Status is maintained as Future Consideration.

    Thanks for raising this requirement. We'd very much like to improve the performance of the file nodes to make more efficient use of file I/O buffering and thus maximising performance, in the manner you suggest. We'll look to schedule for a follow-on release or fixpack.
