Workspace App Connect

Support for installation of App Connect Operator components from customer-managed container registry on Kubernetes.

Customers want the ability to install App Connect Operator components from container registries they control.

This is currently supported (and documented) when the container platform is OpenShift, but documentation (and support) lacks when the platform is Kubernetes.

Lack of support on Kubernetes adopting the operator makes ACE on K8 a non-starter for us. Lack of the ability to Manage different policy files and policy types as well as managing credentials for security identities without clear text passwords on K8 is a major issue. This functionality is a hard requirement for us.

As noted in the orignal entry, this is supported now if installing on OpenShift. It is not supported if installing ACE on Kubernetes even thought ACE itself is supported on Kubernetes. My client has had to submit internal security exceptions to pull from IBM registry. Since pulling from a client controlled registry is supported when container platform is OCP, it seems reasonable that pulling images from a client controlled registry would be supported if container platform is k8s given that the product (ACE) is fully supported on k8s itself

Idea / RFE Review. Thank you for taking time to raise this enhancement request / idea on App Connect Operator. However we are going through some strategy shift for 2022 and at this moment, we are unable to plan to take up this idea for implementation. Having said that, we will have this idea parked for "Future Consideration" and the status is updated to reflect the same. Thanks!
