AS2 node for WMB

Currently we use websphere Partner Gateway (WPG) to have AS2 functionality in place. We have several AS2 connections to external partners. We would like to have a node in Message Broker (WMB) which is able to handle AS2 connections as well. Currently our system chain is:
Ext. partner <-> WPG <-> WMB <-> internal system

To reduce the chain of systems and due to problems with WPG we would like get the AS2 functionality implemented in WMB. As WPG will not developed any further (as far as I can see from current roadmap) it would be an important feature to have in WMB.

From our IBM contacts I got the info that this could be a good candidate feature for inclusion in the medium-term, for a follow-on release or fixpack. I also heard that other customers would like to have such a functionality.

Idea / RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this idea has been in the status of Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration. Unfortunately on this occasion we do not intend to take this suggestion any further forward. The AS2 transport has always been aimed more at our B2B portfolio rather than pure integration products, and whilst we have considered this idea before, the return of only 7 votes over an eight and a half year period betrays a lack of strong demand with our user community. Given we don't have immediate plans to go into partner management, realistically providing just an AS2 transport node would likely not go far enough for most users fulfilling real-life scenarios in this context.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Integration
Product - IBM Integration Bus (WebSphere Message Broker) - IIB

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
Product family - Connectivity and Integration
Product - IBM Integration Bus (WebSphere Message Broker) - IIB

Thanks very much for raising this requirement. I can see the value in having a native connector for AS2 and will investigate this for a follow-on release or fixpack. In the mean time, as AS2 is based on HTTP and S/MIME, you might be able to use the existing support to craft a solution for WMB/IIB today.
