It should be possible to convert from binary or text message formats such as HL7 into valid XML documents, that include an XML declaration purely with Graphical Mapping and relevant node properties. Currently I have to resort to coding in Java / ESQL etc to achieve this.

RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this RFE has been in the status of Under Consideration. We agree that the product would benefit from having a representation of the XML declaration in the message tree by a syntax element with field type XMLNSC.XMLDeclaration so that the graphical mapper can edit the field. As noted in the RFE, it is possible to do this with a Compute node or Java Compute node (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSTTDS_11.0.0/com.ibm.etools.mft.doc/ac67180_.html) and also possible for a default declaration (UTF-8) to be inserted for particular transports on the wire by an output node in the flow. Status of the RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
