This is an IBM Automation portal for Integration products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have had issues with some clients using HTTP who for whatever reason while doing large transfers it has ended up timing out SFTP would be a good alternative. I know it would be limited but it would be good to add additional options for but in legal it is not always possible to ask clients to open 33001 and install software.
Why SFTP ?
Currently Aspera Supports its HTTPGW .
It's available through the web apps that support it: Faspex 5 and Aspra on Cloud, as well as through SDK and cpmmand line (aspera-cli).
The advantage of HTTPS are:
supports HTTP proxies
well known security in networks (certificates, encryption)
support for "token based" authorization supporting Aspera web apps...
SFTP does not provide those.
If SFTP is a need, one can definitely install sftp on Linux and configure to access the same storage as Aspera.
