App Connect - Problem in Importing existing project in Production

Please refer Cloud ticket number - CS1974766

Raising this idea request suggested by IBM Cloud Support team.

Problem Description:

I have one project running in production , now need to update the same with new changes developed in QA. When I am trying to import it in Dashboard of App Connect it is always creating new instance of the same flow with appending _1 in the flow name. The older flow exists and is not overwritten by the new one. I need to update the older flow with the new one because the new flow will create new URI to consume. We can not change the App Connect URI/URL in production for a same flow with minor changes as this impact all the downstream services/application which consuming that flow. Hope I have elaborated my issue correctly. Please let me know if you need any further information for the same. I have attached few screen shot for you reference. Need to resolve this issue on urgent basis as we have production deployment in recent time.

One flow which is currently running in production and also consumed by some other application need to be updated. I have made the changes in QA and need to import the new changes in Production. If it will create new flow then other applications which are consuming this flow will need change in their side. This is weird. In App Connect Enterprise when we deploy bar file with existing flow , it will update the flow not create a new one with new URL. In a complex project how can I maintain production flows if every time for a small change it will create a new flow with new URL. Please note we can not change anything in production directly.

Since this issue was initially raised, we have announced deprecation of the cloud service:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/app-connect/cloud?topic=deprecation-app-connect-cloud-service-plans

The same problem does not occur with our new managed service ACEaaS on AWS. Given these factors and the lack of any further votes or comments over the intervening 3 years, we are closing this issue.

Thank you for taking the time to create this Idea, and for the communications which you originally undertook through our support channel. We understand the use case presented and we agree that the product would be improved with more finessed options for the edit of previously deployed flows which were created using the Designer web browser authoring tool experience. Given your mention of App Connect Enterprise on premises, we wonder if another interim option for you might be to deploy an outer wrapper App Connect Enterprise flow (created in the Toolkit)?
