Give ESQL Editor Toolbar Option Button to Show Source for Selected Element Only

BACKGROUND:
Editing ESQL is cumbersome at times. A message flow can have a single ESQL file supporting multiple ESQL MODULES (Compute, Filter, Database), along with FUNCTIONS or PROCEDURES; this could be an ESQL file with a few hundred lines of code.

The point is to make code easier to follow and not be overwhelmed with a single, large ESQL file if the developer is really interested in a small piece.

PROPOSAL:
Provide the ESQL editor with a similar feature the Java editor has where, from the toolbar, you can invoke the "Show Selected Element Only" button, then from an ESQL outline pane, the user can choose the FUNCTION, MODULE, or PROCEDURE to edit.

The editor will show only the FUNCTION, MODULE, or PROCEDURE code to edit. This would be a similar concept going back to the VisualAge Java days, too.

Idea / RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this RFE has been held in Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration status. Despite this duration, and the limited interest from the community (only 1 vote and no further interested comments up to now), we still see value in the suggestion, so although this isn't an immediate business priority for us we would like to keep this on our radar and maintain the status of this RFE as Future Consideration.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Integration
Product - IBM Integration Bus (WebSphere Message Broker) - IIB

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
Product family - Connectivity and Integration
Product - IBM Integration Bus (WebSphere Message Broker) - IIB

Thanks for raising this requirement; sounds like a great improvement to the usability of the ESQL editor. There are a couple of RFEs related to ESQL tooling (e.g. 19934) - when we get to the next set of ESQL tooling enhancements we'll take a look at these. All the best.
