Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Archiving of payload/message in HL7 to HL7 DFDL Pattern

Our team uses the HL7 to HL7 DFDL pattern and HL7DFDL nodes for integrating with Clinical applications. Currently, this pattern does have an ability to archive the HL7 message in files.

There should be a way save the payload (HL7 message) Received/Sent in Files .

RFE Review. Thank you for taking the time to raise this RFE and apologies for the length of time it has been in Submitted status. The HL7 to HL7 DFDL Pattern already has some very similar options to what is described in the RFE. If readers haven't already seen this, it would be worth checking out this link:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSTTDS_11.0.0/com.ibm.healthcare.pattern.HL7DFDL.doc/pattern/testing.htm

In particular this section on Journaling may be of interest ...

    Journaling

Several of the parameters in the Options group of the pattern instance configuration allow you to choose what information is logged about the messages as they are processed:

Journaling. This parameter can be turned on or off. Journaling writes a copy of the source message to a message queue, or publishes the message to a topic. The message is written with additional metadata that describes the source message flow, integration node name, and pattern instance name. Use journaling to retain a copy of every input message that is sent to an integration node. Retaining messages is valuable from an audit perspective. You can configure the journal queue so that messages expire after one week, for example, so that the queue does not grow indefinitely.
Publish. If Journaling is selected, you can change the Publish parameter to determine whether the message is published to a topic or a queue.
Canonical feed and Source feed. You can choose whether the message is logged.
Report remainders. You can choose whether remainders are logged. Remainders are fields that are not modeled by the HL7v25P message set.

There is of course always more we can do in this area, so we will continue to monitor this RFE for signs of community support for the idea and of course detailed suggestions for how this feature space should evolve. Status of the RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
