Setting DB2/ODBC Client-Info connection attributes in IIB/ACE zOS application

We would like to be able to set the ODBC/DB2 connection attributes (SQL_ATTR_INFO_ACCTSTR, SQL_ATTR_INFO__APPLNAME, SQL_ATTR_INFO__USERID, SQL_ATTR_INFO__WRKSTNNAME) for database connections established by workflows running on IIB/ACE for zOS with DB2 for zOS.

If this functionality were available, we could improve greatly the monitoring of the application by quickly identifying Db2 threads. We could reduce the time needed to do problem determination by analysing Timeouts etc... We could have insight in CPU usage at flow level, and we could be able to assign higher WLM priorities to specifics flows following business requirements. All this is very important by dealing with critical applications.

Today IIB/ACE doesn't provide support to take advantage of this feature. The reason is, that the SQL call needed to set these parameters it is not part of the ESQL used by workflows. It is not possible to make the SQL calls in ESQL, i.e., using an IIB/ACE message flow. “The flow uses ESQL in the nodes but the required calls are part of SQL."

Idea Review. Thank you for taking the time to raise this enhancement request. Whilst it looks like it is possible (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2/11.5?topic=keywords-clientacctstr) to use db2cli.ini to configure the first of the mentioned parameters SQL_ATTR_INFO_ACCTSTR, the others don't appear to be easily configurable through DB2 configuration and would require an ACE code change in order for the product to take advantage of. The usecase sounds like it would bring some value to users so whilst not a top business priority for us, we are moving the requirement into Future Consideration status.
