We are using the datapower AAA policy configuration method - Authenticate with an AAA information file - IBM Documentation for our WS-Security based SOAP services AAA activities. Recently we got a request from one of the partner systems to strengthen the authentication to include sha-256 password digest from their requests. I am reviewing the link IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances: Configuring for Use of WS-Security UserNameToken with Password Digest in the AAA Policy to see if the approach works for using sha-256 digest comparison. However, the document indicates the following:
"....Once DataPower retrieves the cleartext password from the LDAP server, the password is hashed using the SHA-1 specification and it is compared to the Password Digest from the token....."
Since we receive the password digest in sha-256 format, the above statement seems to indicate this comparison will always fail
