Idea / RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this idea has been in the status of Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration. Although this idea has been in the system a while, we observe that there has been slow and steady momentum built around GPB. Whilst the protocol still seems to be gathering industry traction, support hasn't yet reached a level to push this to the top of our priority list but we are keen to continue tracking the idea and maintain the idea status as Future Consideration.

I don't have much detail. This request arose from an RFP for a large ASL deal with a Telco partner. They didn't describe a specific scenario or detail a specific language. I would assume java. I just wanted to get it on the radar. Bottom line at this point is I think we (IBM Prod Mgmt and Dev) can set direction here.

Thank you for raising this RFE. Although we have not yet seen widespread demand by our client base for Google Protocol Buffers as a mechanism for serializing data (and in some cases it might not be appropriate such as for example modelling text-based data where you need to rapidly combine lots of markup and data), we are excited by the topic and we can see its potential as a concise, performant mechanism for exchanging data within and between applications. You mention general support for GPB in both the tooling and runtime, but any additional information you can provide regarding specific integration use cases would be much appreciated to better understand this requirement. Also, do you have usage with a particular programming language in mind? Status of this RFE is updated to Request Info.
