ILMT's main purpose is to fulfill IBM subcapacity licensing requirements. One of such requirements is that customers generate quarterly license usage reports. So, the concept is that customers review the data in ILMT, classify all software which requires re-classification and then conciously generate the report knowing what's data it represents. Automated audit snapshots generation would not allow for such data review and reflection.
Additionally, the manual review of the data once per quarter allows to identify potential needs to purchase additional licenses if needed and do that promptly and on time.
Automated creation of audit snapshots would increase the percentage of incorrect reports not reviewed by anybody and could potentially drastically reduce value of such reports.
Finally, ILMT tracks all data history and allows to retrospectively generate audit snapshots for past periods if it was forgotten or not done due to any reasons, so it does not require to do it on certain day or moment. This given additional flexibility.
Thank you very much for the idea and willingness to make ILMT most ffective. However, based on the above we do not plan to deliver this idea in teh forseable future.
