Apart from benefits which are mentioned by other, this would be very helpful while taking backup of all the pagesets just before upgrading Q-mgr. this would reduce implementation window time significantly.
This is indeed a very valid requirement but instead of introducing a new tool to do a more "clever" backup perhaps IBM should consider enhancing the already existing facilities provided by z/os so that all backups could benefit from the enhancement.
We recognize that this is a valid requirement, and in fact is a good idea. However it doesn't fit with our delivery plans for the next couple of years. In particular it would require us to introduce a tool to produce and consume backups instead of relying on facilities provided by z/OS.
As a result we are declining this idea. While declined the idea can still be voted, and commented, upon.
