Full SQL Support in Map Node

SQL statements are supported in the map node but it still does not support the complete SQL standard. E.g. UNION clause, Isolation Level (WITH clause), etc. This makes the map node not very useful in practical scenarios with complex queries.

The Mapping tool is a great way to represent and maintain mapping of different data elements graphically. This makes the code maintainable and easy to change. However, the limitations of the SQL mapping forces customers to shy away from it and go back to coding.

Adding this would really enhance the mapping experience.

Idea / RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this RFE has been held in Uncommitted Candidate / Future Consideration status. Unfortunately on this occasion we do not intend to carry this idea further forward. Although this was originally raised against the old mapper codebase in 2014, it is fair to say that even the new mapper has limitations where SQL syntax is concerned. A user can workaround these constraints either through invocation of Java or ESQL from the graphical map, or by executing a stored procedure from the map. Given the low votes, long time period since this was raised, and marginal benefit unfortunately this is unlikely to be prioritized any time soon. Status of the idea is closed.

As noted in the duplicate RFE 41891 since IIB v9 there is support for invoking a Stored Procedure from a Graphical Data map. This approach allows the complex queries to be maintained in the database system and the Graphical data Map to simply invoke the provided procedure.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Integration
Product - IBM Integration Bus (WebSphere Message Broker) - IIB

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
Product family - Connectivity and Integration
Product - IBM Integration Bus (WebSphere Message Broker) - IIB

Thank you for raising this RFE. The Graphical Data Mapper remains an important part of our strategic vision for IIB, and we agree that extending the range of SQL support it provides when interacting with databases would be a positive step forward, whilst noting that any enhancements we make would need to be applicable for all database versions supported by the maps (or at very least would need to be obvious to the user which SQL features are supported by which databases). Status of this RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
