Saving custom XPath statements in the IB Graphical Mapper

In the Graphical Mapper you can create    Custom XPath transformations, but there isn't a mechanism for saving them and consequently reusing them.

RFE Review. Apologies for the length of time this RFE has been in the status of Under Consideration. Custom XPath expressions can be updated for one or more fields as part of a graphical data map, which can be saved. The expression is persisted within the saved ".map" extension file. If you sneak a peek in a text editor you will find an entry like this example where I have reused fn:abs() as a custom XPath piece of code:

    fn:abs( )

It is noted that this code could be made "reusable" outside of the map, in a similar way to an external piece of Java or ESQL. The difference with these situations of course is that we have an editting and coding experience for these kind of code snippets which is outside of the map itself. In order to meet this enhancement request we would need to have an addressing methodology for the code (potentially packaged in "namespaces/packages" within a project). We would also want to declare a signature for passing variables into and out of the code. These aspects are not inconsiderable in terms of scope, and we note the solitary vote which this RFE has gathered over several years. That said we will continue to monitor. Status of this RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
