Workspace App Connect

enable EDI support.

Currently app connect doesnt have read EDI or convert EDI to XML. EDI format is very popular for B2B. Other tools like Boomi and Mulesoft is able to read EDI and convert EDI file. It would be nice to add EDI transformation to app connect.

Idea Review. Thank you for taking the time to raise this enhancement request. EDI is a generalised term for many different kinds of data format which all follow a similar look and feel. Most commonly "EDI" would refer to the EDIFACT models which are owned by ISO, or the X12 organisation. For ACE Toolkit message flows, we provide the DFDL modelling capability which enables users to parse and write all kinds of bespoke tagged/delimited data format structures, including those classified as EDI. In fact there is a tutorial "Modeling EDIFACT data by using DFDL" provided in the Toolkit Tutorials Gallery (Help menu > Tutorials Gallery). For licensed users of ACE, if there is a particular EDIFACT release for which you would like a DFDL model generating, then please reach out to us directly (email Ask.Application.Integration@uk.ibm.com).

The wording of the original requirement request does not make it clear if the need is for support for EDI in the Toolkit or Designer authoring tool. If the requirement was intended for Designer, then your interest can be registered (please vote and comment!) on this duplicate requirement which is already in the system: https://integration-development.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/CIP-I-143
