Forward Proxy for Callable Flow Switch Agent

Many companies use the concept of a forward proxy to access external Internet resources. There are a number of reasons to do this, including enforcing internal security policies, hiding internal IP addresses, internal caching and logging of external requests.

IBM has realized this in the IBM Integration Bus and App Connect Enterprise product. In IIB v10.0.0.9 a major forward proxy reengineering effort took place, enabling forward proxy configuration both centrally (in the broker) or individually (in the flows).

Hybrid Cloud architecture and IBM SaaS offerings are generally seen as very positive - especially the possibility to use the IBM App Connect Professional on Cloud SaaS solution. The Switch Server is already established on the cloud level - connected to the App Connect Service. However there is no functionality to be able to specify a wss (websocket) proxy server for the outgoing connection to the Switch.
As all HTTP related outbound connectors already have been equipped with the possibility to specify proxy information, it is felt that it is necessary for the agent/Switch communication to have this ability as well. Otherwise it will be very difficult to engage companies like banks and insurance companies, with a high security mindset, to use the ACEoC and App Connect on Cloud SaaS solutions.

RFE Review. Thank you for taking the time to raise this RFE and apologies it has been in Submitted status for a short while. As discussed over email, we agree that this enhancement suggestion would improve the product - as you reflected in the RFE text we have acknowledged the importance of proxies for some of our other transport nodes, and whilst the engineering is not as straightforward as some RFEs, it would certainly be possible to change the Switch to allow this. Status of the RFE is updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
